I am not sure which angle is Mr Chia coming from. Insurers are all operating on a For-Profit basis and they are not doing this ProBono. To enter into an insurance contract, its always on a Utmost Good Faith basis with all material facts to be disclosed. Of course premiums have to be paid in exchange for a claim to be paid too, in the event of the risk contingent being met. The fact remains there are health issues known but not declared, its not up to the applicant to decide to if its material to the risks applied for: the application form clearly states for ALL known infromation to be made known to the insurer during application for Underwriting purpose.

Denying the claim based on non-disclosure is not a play of technicality but simply a breach on the part of the applicant.
